Macau's health bureau said it has reached a primary agreement for quarantine-free visits by vaccinated Hongkongers, and that such travel can start 14 days after Hong Kong's last Covid-19 case with unknown source.
However the Health Bureau of Macao stressed that no date has been confirmed yet. Macao earlier said it would only open its border to Hong Kong if the city goes
Covid-free for 28 days straight.
But the bureau admitted the two governments have reached a primary agreement on conditions for such travel.
According to health official from Macao, individuals who enter Macao will see their health code labeled blue. They will need to undergo virus test upon arrival and live on designated floors of hotels as well.
Hongkongers must have received both doses of
Covid-19
vaccine and present negative virus test results before entering Macao,
Hongkongers will also be banned from entering swimming pools, bars and Karaoke establishments in Macao.
They must always wear a mask unless they are eating. They could not participate in any activities that allow them not to wear masks.
Teddy Chung Wai-tong, vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Macao Cross Border Association, expected that services provided by Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge shuttle bus can meet current demands for border-crossing.
The shuttle bus company is ready to commence services, yet it is still waiting for the government to show them the green light, Chung added.
Ferry companies will offer 10 round trips a day as well, starting from 9am to 8.30pm.
