Lockdown continued tonight as more buildings in Sai Ying Pun -- the Manifold Court, Truelight Building, High Park 99, Wing Cheung Mansion, Golden Phoenix Court, as well as block A and M of the Hing Wah Mansions -- were cordoned off at 9pm today as the government announced the latest lockdown.
Residents living in the first four buildings were required to undergo
Covid-19 tests before 0.30am tomorrow and the government aims to finish the operation by 8am.
While those who live in Golden Phoenix Court and Hing Wah Mansions were expected to be tested by 2am and the authorities aimed to end the lockdown of the two buildings by 7am.
Yesterday, two US consulate staff members tested positive during the Mid-Levels lockdown, triggering the consulate's closure.
During the operation, around 960 residents in the lockdown area have undergone tests and another 23 people who failed to do so were slapped with a mandatory testing order, the authorities said.
But the authorities also said around 80 among 410 households in the area did not answer the door during the lockdown.
No positive case was found in another lockdown area on Pok Fu Lam Road after 680 residents underwent the tests on Sunday night. But 70 out of 600 households in the area did not answer the door, the authorities said.
The couple -- a 40-year-old man and 41-year-old woman -- were tested after the lockdown of Dynasty Court in Garden Road that started on Sunday night.
The Centre for Health Protection’s Albert Au Ka-win said today the two cases were local as they had been in Hong Kong since September.
He said the couple did not develop any symptoms and last went to work on Friday. They went to Stazione Novella bar on Staunton Street in Central on March 10 and the Bones and Blades restaurant in Sai Kung on March 3.
Three of their family members were also quarantined, with two admitted to hospital and the third sent to a quarantine center, Au said.
The US consulate general will face compulsory tests once the couple has been confirmed, just like other workplaces, he added.
