Liu Guangyuan meets with Gregory May, draws three ‘red lines’ on US interference in HK issues
Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Liu Guangyuan has recently met with the US Consul General in Hong Kong, Gregory May, as the Chinese side drew three “red lines” and asked the US to stop interfering with Hong Kong affairs.
A spokesperson from Liu's office said the commissioner strongly condemned and opposed a series of inappropriate remarks that interfered with Hong Kong issues by May and the consulate during their meeting.
Liu also urged May to abide by the professional code of a diplomat and not to set foot on the wrong path.
Liu also drew three “red lines” for May and his consulate, asking the US not to endanger Chinese national security, not to engage in political infiltration in Hong Kong, and not to smear and damage Hong Kong's bright and prosperous future for developments.
“While the US Consulate General does not generally comment on private diplomatic meetings, we do not hesitate to express publicly and privately the US' deep concern over the erosion of Hong Kong’s autonomy,” a spokesperson replied to media enquiries and said.
