Lingnan University will follow the government's lead and impose the "vaccine pass" arrangement starting next Thursday (Feb 24), and students denied entry to the campus will be viewed as absent from classes.
All individuals entering the campus must have received the first dose of
vaccine by next Thursday (Feb 24) and the second dose by April 21. Those who have been fully vaccinated for nine months or above must get their third jab by late June.
The university said that when face-to-face classes resume, students who are banned from the campus will be viewed as absent from classes. Being absent from classes for 30 days or more will be considered to be informal rustication.
If students are absent from classes for over one-third of the semester, the course they enrolled in will not be assessed and graded.
Those who hold a vaccination exemption certificate issued by doctors will need to undergo
Covid-19 testing once every three days.
The Student Union opposed the university punishing students who choose not to receive vaccination with academic results via administrative means and condemned the school for ignoring public opinion.
The union also urged the school the discuss relevant anti-pandemic measures with them as soon as possible.
