Li Ka Shing Foundation donates HK$20m to Henan flood relief
Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, through his Li Ka Shing Foundation, has donated HK$20 million for flood relief efforts in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province.
Earlier, chairman of Pacific Century Group Richard Li Tzar-kai also donated 10 million yuan, sending best wishes to those affected in the Henan flood zone.
The rush in donations started when China’s tech giants and Chinese celebrities all jumped in to provide aid to the disaster-hit area.
The Jack Ma Foundation contributed 50 million yuan, one-fifth of Alibaba and Ant’s 250 million yuan donation, according to an announcement on microblogging platform Weibo on Wednesday.
ByteDance, Didi, Meituan, Pinduoduo, and Tencent each donated 100 million yuan.
Meanwhile, Baidu donated 90 million yuan. Xiaomi, Kuaishou, and Vivo each provided 50 million yuan. Internet security company Qihoo 360 donated 40 million yuan. Electric carmakers XPeng and Li Auto donated 15 million and 10 million yuan, respectively.
On the other hand, more than 60 Chinese celebrities and counting, including Ouyang Nana from Taiwan and Hong Kong's Nicholas Tse, have donated money for the flood relief efforts.
Many of them uploaded their donation receipts to official charity organizations on China's Sina Weibo, getting applause from netizens.
