Leung Kwok-hung again denied bail in security law case

Former Hong Kong pro-democracy legislator Leung Kwok-hung, also known as “Long Hair”, has been denied bail again.
Leung, along with former lawmaker Claudia Mo Man-ching and activists Jimmy Sham Tsz-kit’s bail appeal was heard at the High Court today after the three being detained for a month since prosecuted for violating the national security law for subversion on February 28.

After High Court judge Esther Toh Lye-ping denied Leung’s bail appeal, the 65-year-old veteran activist waved to supporters who told him to “hang tight” before he was escorted away from the courtroom.

As for Sham, after debating for an hour, his bail hearing is adjourned to April 12. He was seen trying to communicate with his friends and supporters with hand gestures.

Mo’s bail hearing was also adjourned to a later date on April 14 at 10.30am.

All three defendants were remanded after today’s hearing.

The three were among the 47 defendants accused of conspiring to commit subversion by taking part in Legco primaries last year, with the aim of winning a majority in Legco to paralyze the government.
