The president of the Legislative Council, Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, could not attend the regular LegCo meeting this morning as his family tested positive for Covid-19.
According to the spokesperson, Leung's family tested positive on Wednesday. Leung has yet to go back to the Legislative Council out of precaution, and the meeting was hosted by the president's deputies, Starry Lee Wai-king and Ma Fung-kwok.
The spokesperson further stated that Leung was later informed as a close contact of a confirmed positive
Covid case and will follow quarantine instructions and work from home.
Leung last attended the mourning activity on Tuesday with other lawmakers for the death of former president Jiang Zemin at the Legislative Council.
Leung's son, the undersecretary for the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, Clarence Leung Wang-ching, will also undergo home quarantine and work from home. Both tested negative for
Covid via RAT test this morning.
