Legco chief reveals GBA visit in first spring lunch banquet in three years
Legislative Council president Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen said he is mulling with chief executive John Lee Ka-chiu a visit to the Greater Bay Area alongside all 90 legislators as the city's law making body resumed its spring lunch banquet in three years on Friday.
Delivering an opening speech today, Leung said the visit will also include principal government officials, as he stressed the administration and the legislature will only deepen their ties.
“The return of the Legco's spring lunch banquet also symbolizes Hong Kong's return to normalcy at full speed.
“It is also the first banquet since the elections system was enhanced and the ‘patriots rule Hong Kong' principle was implemented. I'm very glad to tell you all that each and every one of the seats is taken here today,” Leung said before around 200 guests.
Leung added the Legco has an important mission as Hong Kong is now at the key moment of transiting from stability and order to prosperity.
He believed both the Legco and the government will not sit idly by but will take the initiate and strike proactively in participating in national development plans and promoting the city's stories.
He then wished a prosperous Year of the Rabbit and booming businesses to Hong Kong and China.
