Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han has tested positive for Covid-19, a spokesman said on Saturday, after one of his family members caught the coronavirus before.
The labor chief tested positive through a rapid antigen test and is now ongoing isolation in accordance with guidelines by the Centre for Health Protection.
Sun last went to work on Thursday (Dec 8) and wore masks and followed relevant anti-pandemic measures at work. He has no recent travel history.
“The Labor and Welfare Bureau will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection operations at the office concerned and will continue to implement disease prevention measures vigorously,” the spokesman said.
The news came after the government announced yesterday (Fri) that Sun has been under home quarantine since one of his family members living in the same household was infected with
Covid.
