KMB to Launch 42 New Electric Double-Decker Buses Produced by BYD in Hong Kong This Month
Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) will start running 42 new electric double-decker buses produced by BYD in Hong Kong later this month.
KMB aims to replace its entire 4,100-bus fleet with electric buses by 2040 and is cooperating with BYD on electric bus operation, maintenance, and battery usage.
The new buses have highly efficient battery systems and can carry 115 passengers, traveling about 300 kilometers after three hours of charging.
A delegation from BYD visited KMB's Kowloon Bay depot to gain a better understanding of the daily operation of KMB's electric buses.
KMB plans to install charging facilities in existing depots and build two multi-story depots for electric buses in Tuen Mun and Tai Po, with a total of 850 parking spaces.
