Kevin Yeung says HK films display the city’s unique cultural charm
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung expressed his gratitude to those who have contributed to the Hong Kong film industry, thanking them for creating films that tell good stories of Hong Kong and display the city’s unique cultural charm.
His comments came after the city held its landmark movie award - the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards.
Writing on his social media on Monday, the culture chief congratulated all winners at the awards, and also praised them for their relentless efforts in pursuing excellence.
Yeung noted that many Hong Kong films and professionals have received global recognition in recent years, including Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng winning the Oscars for Best Female Actress and Tony Leung Chiu-wai winning the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival.
He added that the government will continue to work with the Hong Kong Film Development Council to provide support and promote the sustainable development of the Hong Kong film industry.
