Built by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Robert Ho Tung, KBE JP way back in 1954, and sponsored by the Ho Tung Culture Development Foundation, the school has been sought after by parents looking to provide a more rounded learning experience for their children. Judges, principals, teachers, engineers, senior civil servants, artists and representatives of Hong Kong’s sports teams are among its distinguished alumni. Placements are now available, and there are 50 limited spots available on a first come first serve basis.
The school’s unique ‘child-centered’ curriculum endeavors to inspire by broadening a child’s potential. Consistent with the national policy, the goal is to make education less of a burden. The current syllabus, started since 2018, maintains the school’s core idea that says ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. To let students learn with a free, happy and motivated mind, the school provides a diversified and innovative learning environment that also cultivates their character.
Upholding Chinese and English proficiency in a disciplined manner, the school teaches students in accordance with their aptitude, and imparts the value of flexible and independent thinking. The school’s green natural surroundings further inspire the children by broadening ecological awareness, enhancing self-confidence and stimulating creativity.
What the Kam Tsin Village Ho Tung School essentially delivers is an international school experience, without the fees. To strengthen its international professional standards, the school has recently launched the Cambridge English Teaching Pilot Scheme together with GPEX Central HK Limited. GPEX is one of only two local institutions that can host the Cambridge English Examination. Moreover, all of its English teachers have passed the internationally recognised Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test. Kam Tsin Village Ho Tung School is the first and only school in Hong Kong that adopts this policy.
Additionally, the school, along with the Ho Tung family, is committed to actively supporting Hong Kong’s minority groups. An exclusive special class (of up to 25 students) has been set aside for children from culturally-diverse minorities, with a special syllabus designed to help their integration into the community.
Distributed by the kindergarten, kindergarten-cum-child care centre, district offices, the school place allocation section of the Education Bureau, and each regional education service office, the application form is available from September 2 to 27. Parents should submit the form to the School Administration Office of Kam Tsin Village Ho Tung School from September 20 to 27.
