The Hong Kong leader said he and principal officials have been actively identifying suitable talents of diverse backgrounds based on criteria, including their extensive experience, knowledge, or abilities in respective fields.

He added that the candidates’ governing philosophy, communication abilities, love for both the country and Hong Kong, and enthusiasm and passion for serving the community were also considered.

“I have so far appointed 12 Under Secretaries and 13 Political Assistants. I am confident that, as new members of the politically appointed team, they will be pragmatic and aspire to build a capable government together,” said Lee.

The eight newly appointed Under Secretaries and 11 Political Assistants are:

- Under Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Liu Chun-san

- Under Secretary for Security, Michael Cheuk Hau-yip

- Under Secretary for Housing, Victor Tai Sheung-shing

- Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Raistlin Lau Chun

- Under Secretary for Health, Libby Lee Ha-yun

- Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Clarence Leung Wang-ching

- Under Secretary for Education, Jeff Sze Chun-fai

- Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Lillian Cheong Man-lei

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Bruce Lee Sai-wah

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Sammi Fu Hiu-lam

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Education, Siu Ka-yi

- Political Assistant to the Financial Secretary, Yeung Tung-tat

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Marcus Liu Tin-shing

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Security, Christy Leung So-ting

- Political Assistant to the Secretary for Housing, Au Yeung Man-sin
