The government on Monday officially declared John Lee Ka-chiu as the only “validly nominated candidate” for the sixth Chief Executive election.
The Candidate Eligibility Review Committee published a notice in the Gazette that declared Lee's nomination for the 2022 CE election as valid.
The CE hopeful has submitted a total of 786 nominations from Election Committee members for his leadership bid, far exceeding the threshold of 188 nominations needed to compete in the election.
Lee said at a press briefing on Monday that he is grateful to the CERC and the nominations and advice from the Election Committee members.
Polling will take place on May 8. The Registration and Electoral Office will set up a main polling station at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai for Election Committee members to cast their votes.
