Fans of Japanese culture can join the Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong in the next two months while waiting for the chance to visit their favorite destination again.
Japanese dance and cuisine bazaar will be held at Police Married Quarters (PMQ) in Central on October 29-30, while a budo (Japanese martial arts) performance will be held on November 20 at Jao Tsung-I Academy in Lai Chi Kok.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong has been working with Japanese cultural organizations and the SAR government to host the seventh Japan Autumn Festival from October to November.
Consul general Okada Kenichi said more than 100 online and offline activities will be held this year, covering areas such as movies, performing arts, sports ,arts and crafts, F&B, as well as education, sales and promotion.
"It's common to spot Japanese culture integrating into the Hong Kong society, such as our language, food and products, while Japan has long been the favorite tourist spot for Hongkongers," he said.
"With the relaxing travel restriction in Japan, I personally feel that many Hongkongers are interested in visiting Japan," Okada added.
A highlight of the festival will be the Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now special exhibition at M+ from November 12 to May 14 next year.
Another activity is a film festival jointly held with MCL Cinema at Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay from November 12 to 20, featuring four popular Japanese animations.
Anime-streaming platform Ani-One will hold an online anime song concert on their YouTube channel with performance by Hong Kong singer Mischa Ip Hau-lam.
Japanese singer-songwriter Lia will hold a concert at the West Kowloon Cultural District on November 12.
