As many countries begin to open their doors, Hong Kong people’s desire to travel has continued to grow. 82% of Hongkongers would like to start booking a tour and Japan tops the destination list.
In a survey conducted by Club Med, the premium all-inclusive resort operator, Japan is still the top destination for Hong Kong travelers. Southeast Asia destinations such as Bali, Thailand, and Indonesia followed.
The result of the survey also suggests many Hongkongers are willing to book travel packages as soon as restrictions are eased. 50% are willing to travel within the first month when restrictions are eased and 70% are willing to travel within 3 months.
Moreover, the survey also suggests that
Covid-19 has significantly affected people’s priorities when it comes to travel. Safety and hygiene are the most concern of the people. Price, on the other hand, wasn’t as important as pre-pandemic. This can be seen as 97% of Hongkongers are willing to pay the same or more than the pre-pandemic costs when traveling.
Furthermore, the survey also shows that the main reason why people want to travel is to spend quality time with the families. Coming in second and third are to experience different cultures and to celebrate holidays and birthdays.
