Informant who spots cabbie murderer can expect HK$300,000 reward
The female westerner who spotted the cabbie murderer on Lamma Island and made a report to police may be rewarded HK$300,000 by former chief executive Leung Chun-ying.
The murder case of the 48-year-old taxi driver that took place on Tuesday morning has drawn safety concern from the whole city. Leung earlier announced on social media that the 803 Funds founded by him will reward HK$300,000 to whoever can provide relevant information to police.
He published the post around 7pm on Wednesday, and soon a female westerner spotted the murder suspect Matthew Choi Naam-sang drinking beer outside a store on Lamma Island around 8.30pm that night and reported to police.
Armed officers soon arrived at the scene and captured the suspect.
Leung then published a newspaper report on Thursday morning, which mentioned the female informant is expected to be rewarded HK$300,000 by 803 Funds.
Many believed Leung will keep his words and reward the female informant HK$300,000.
