Impatient passenger pushes driver off bus over traffic jam in Wan Chai
A male driver was witnessed being pushed off a bus by a female passenger and lying in the road after an argument between the two due to traffic congestion in Wan Chai on Wednesday afternoon.
The 35-year-old driver was found conscious lying on the ground at around 2 pm today before receiving treatment from rescuers who rushed to the scene.
According to police, the No. 969 Citybus was driving along Hennessy Road in the direction of North Point when it approached Wan Chai Fire Station and stopped for traffic congestion.
However, a female passenger on the bus, about 60 years old, felt dissatisfied with the temporary stop and quarreled with the driver. She was irritated and pushed the driver off the bus before she walked away.
The incident is under ongoing investigation by police.
According to Hong Kong laws, passengers who deliberately obstruct or distract the bus driver could face a maximum fine of six-month imprisonment and HK$5,000 in penalty.
