Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu touted on Sunday that relaxing Covid curbs has made citizens happier, saying more significant events are expected to be held in the city.
The Hong Kong leader acclaimed at the Hong Kong Cyclothon this morning that the event, which more than 5,000 participants attended, showed the city’s vitality and charming attraction.
“We are back on the world stage under the gradual resumption of Hong Kong with multiple major events held,” he said.
Lee added that the Hong Kong Tourism Board would continue to organise a series of events covering a wide range of arts, traditional culture, sports and other themes.
“Our citizens have become happier as the government loosened most of the
Covid limitations in the past week,” he said, “the city has seen the dynamic with vigour. I also feel very cheerful. ”
“I have confidence that Hong Kong will see a rapid increase of visitors from around the world with the further easing of the pandemic restrictions,” he added.
