The General Office of the State Council of China made the announcement today. The games is the biggest national multi-sports event, and is held every four years.

This year's National Games will be hosted in Shaanxi from September 15 to September 27.

Hong Kong's Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Edgar Cheung Ka-long will also compete in the event, as will bronze medallist and cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze.

The Council has stated that funding for the 15th Games will be provided by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau governments, and the central government will provide a one-time subsidy. It also emphasized the need for financial managements in order to reduce the cost of the Games.

This will be the first time Hong Kong and Macau have hosted the Games, and the third time for Guangdong, which hosted the 6th Games in 1987 and the 9th Games in 2001.
