Hong Kong celebrity Kelly Chen Wai-lam’s charity sale attracted hundreds of people who started queuing at about 6am on Wednesday, with sought-after items including a HK$14,000 (US$1,780) Gucci crossover Adidas Original handbag, a HK$35,000 Chanel small Rainbow Boy bag and items by Prada, Valentino and Fendi.
About 250 people lined up in a shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui before the sale started at 12.30pm, with a dozen security personnel deployed to manage the crowd.
Hours after the opening of the week-long sale, Chen said she had underestimated the number of shoppers and apologised for keeping them waiting.
