Hong Kong's GFS launches world-first H175 full flight simulator for search and rescue missions
The Government Flying Service (GFS) in Hong Kong has launched a new H175 full flight simulator (FFS) to improve the training of its pilots.
The H175 FFS is the first custom-made search and rescue mission simulator for the Airbus H175 helicopter in the world.
It allows pilots to train for complex and risky missions without risking the crew or aircraft.
The simulator has already performed 2,000 flight hours since its entry into service in November 2020.
The system can improve the safety and efficiency of GFS operations, reduce operational costs and environmental impact, and cut maintenance costs and fuel use by helicopters.
The flight simulator consists of a full-size replica of the GFS H175 helicopter cockpit, a visual system, motion systems, and a sound system that can simulate different flight scenarios and conditions.
It is also equipped with a high-resolution Hong Kong geographical and visual database.
The project underwent two years of development and testing in Spain and Hong Kong.
