Hong Kong reporter says followed by two unknown men, files police report
A court reporter from the English-language news outlet Hong Kong Free Press has filed a police report after she said she was followed by two unknown men with earpieces from her home to work for over an hour on Wednesday.
According to the report, that reporter was tailed by two unknown men with earpieces on during the morning rush hours at the MTR station, although having tried to lose them multiple times by getting on and off different trains.
When confronted by another reporter, one refused to reveal his identity or answer any question. Instead, he hid in the men’s room at the train station.
Police said they received a report on Thursday where the claimant suspected she was followed by two unknown men from Kwai Chung and Kennedy Town on Wednesday (Mar 22) morning.
The case was listed as a request for police investigation. It is handled by the Kwai Tsing District crime squad, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
HKFP cited Hong Kong Journalists’ Association, saying they strongly condemn any attempt to harass or intimidate journalists.
