Hong Kong protests: Peaceful rally calling for international support deteriorates into chaos

Hong Kong police deployed tear gas on Sunday (Sep 8) to disperse crowds after hardcore protesters set up barricades, smashed windows, started street fires and vandalised an MTR station. The violence follows a protest outside the US consulate in Hong Kong, where protesters called on President Donald Trump to "liberate" Hong Kong. CNA's Afifah Ariffin takes stock of what unfolded throughout the day across the city.
