Police were called to the offices of Fok Ying Tung Group in Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon after more than 350 rounds of ammunition were found in a safe there.
Authorities were alerted at around 3.40pm after a family member of late tycoon Henry Fok Ying-tung discovered the bullets in a safe. Officers were sent to the 11th-floor office in the west tower of Shun Tak Centre on Connaught Road Central, in Sheung Wan.
“Initial investigation showed that inside the safe, there were more than 350 rounds of ammunition found inside seven boxes,” a police source said.
According to police, the bullets were taken to the force’s forensic firearms examination bureau for inspection.
The case has been classified as “ammunition found”, and no arrests have been made so far.
Officers from the Central criminal investigation unit are handling the case.
Fok, a former vice-chairman of the country’s top political advisory body, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, died of cancer in 2006 at the age of 83.
