Hong Kong Police Arrest 25 Suspects in Multi-Million Dollar Scam
Twenty-five people were arrested in Hong Kong for defrauding victims out of HK$13 million in various scams, including one case where the highest loss was over HK$5.5 million.
The suspects, aged 19 to 59, included two non-Chinese residents holding Hong Kong identity cards.
They were arrested for obtaining property by deception, evasion of liability by deception, conspiracy to defraud, and money laundering.
The suspects were reportedly jobless, servers, chefs, and customer service officers.
Police received reports from five elderly victims who were cheated by fraudsters claiming to be their relatives in need of cash.
The suspects were later arrested and the stolen money was recovered.
