WTO Dispute Settlement System in Crisis as US Freezes Operations
The Hong Kong Commerce Secretary, Algernon Yau, has called on the World Trade Organization (WTO) to repair its dispute settlement system after the United States froze WTO operations in retaliation for the Beijing-imposed national security law.
Yau told a meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministers Responsible for Trade in the US that WTO members should work constructively to get the dispute settlement work back on track by next year.
