As of 12pm, super typhoon Goni was centered about 770 kilometres east of Manila. It is forecast to move west-southwest at about 22 kilometres per hour in the general direction of Luzon.
The associated band of clouds will affect the northern part of the South China Sea midweek next week. It will then weaken into a tropical cyclone and enter within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong next Tuesday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
Meanwhile, tropical Storm Atsani was centred about 1980 kilometres east of Manila. It Will move across the seas east of the Philippines in the next few days at about 22 kilometres per hour across the western North Pacific and intensify gradually. Its subsequent movement and intensity remain uncertain.
A dry northeast monsoon will persist over the south China coast in the next couple of days but it will be generally fine over the region, the forecaster said.
The temperature next week will be between 21 degree Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius.
