Hong Kong has seen the introduction of a protection policy that is said to be the first of this kind in the local insurance market.
AXA's all-in-one insurance and health services platform – Emma by AXA – is now providing one year of free post-vaccination protection to Hong Kong and Macau residents who download the platform's app and complete registration.
The insurer's offer applies to all Hong Kong and Macau residents aged 18 to 65, with a valid ID card of these territories. Each applicant can register for four of his/her family members (spouse or child) aged 65 or below. The policies have a limited quota and are available on a first come-first served basis.
The 'post-vaccination protection' policies offer free hospital and death benefits, including:
* Hospital benefit of HK$700 ($90) per day for up to 10 days payable to an eligible applicant who is diagnosed with an 'Adverse Event Following Immunisation' (AEFI) within 14 days post-vaccination and is confined in a hospital.
* Death benefit comprising one-off lump sum of HK$100,000 payable to eligible applicant's estate if the applicant is diagnosed with an AEFI within 14 days post-vaccination and its complications result in death.
