Hong Kong idol Anson Lo wins Mnet Asian Music Awards
Hong Kong pop idol Anson Lo Hon-ting said he was surprised and honored about his win at the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
The prominent music awards show, short for MAMA, was hosted in South Korea on Saturday. Lo, from the boy band Mirror, won in the category of “best new Asian artist – Mandarin.”
“Winning this award and going on MAMA has been my long-time dream. I am very surprised to have received this recognition, and I am very encouraged too,” Lo said.
The star behind Megahit and Showbiz Spy said he would worker harder in the entertainment industry so that the audience can see different sides of him.
“I hope you guys will continue to support me and Mirror. Without Mirror, there wouldn't be Anson Lo... this award doesn't belong to myself, but to all of my fans and my audience. It goes to the Mirror band. Thank you!”
On the other hand, Korean boy band BTS continued to sweep the awards, winning a total of nine trophies.
It won the awards of Album Of The Year for BE, Worldwide Icon Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, Favourite Moment, Best Male Group, and Song Of The Year and Best Dance Performance Male Group for Butter. They were also recognized in the Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10.
Korean singer IU won three awards,whereas girl group Aespa and boy band Enhypen won two awards each.
