A 51-year-old father was briefly rendered unconscious on Sunday night at a Hong Kong mall after his teenage son allegedly attacked him with an umbrella during a heated argument.
Police said the man and his 13-year-old son had quarrelled inside Tung Chung’s Citygate Outlets mall before the incident allegedly escalated into a physical fight before 7pm.
The son was believed to have struck his father’s head with the umbrella, knocking the man out, the force said.
According to police, the 51-year-old later regained consciousness after he was admitted to North Lantau Hospital with injuries to his head and elbows.
The boy was arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, they said.
Officers had cordoned off the scene of the incident, which still featured traces of blood and the remains of the broken umbrella.
A Lantau district investigation team is currently handling the case.
