Hong Kong Chief Executive thanks Chinese President for responding to letter from Pui Kiu Middle School students
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has expressed his gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for taking the time to respond to a letter written by Secondary 4 students of Pui Kiu Middle School.
The students had written to President Xi to share their experience of participating in various activities, including the burial ceremony of the remains of the Chinese People's Volunteers martyrs that were returned to China from Korea.
In his letter, President Xi expressed his care and encouragement for the students, and also praised their real-time dialogue with astronauts on the Tiangong Space Station.
Lee stated that the reply from President Xi will motivate schools in Hong Kong to organize more diverse extra-curricular activities that help young people gain a better understanding of their country's history and national affairs, as well as strengthen their sense of national identity.
Lee also emphasized that the SAR government will continue to promote and strengthen patriotic education and national education, and provide a supportive learning environment for the growth and development of young people in Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive's appreciation for President Xi's effort is a testament to the importance of engaging with the younger generation and fostering their sense of national pride and identity.
