Holding center at Harbor Road Sports Center to receive Covid patients in Sept
The holding center at Harbor Road Sports Center in Wan Chai will commence on September 1 with 130 beds available for elderly Covid patients who are asymptomatic or showing mild symptoms.
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) said that the holding center would commence operation to alleviate the pressure on hospitals in light of the recent rising number of confirmed cases.
The center will provide basic meals and nursing support without charge, said the Department.
The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon, will form a care team to provide temporary care services at the center, while Quality HealthCare will provide medical support.
The holding centers at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Center and Siu Sai Wan Sports Center set up by the SWD came into operation on June 25, while the holding center at Tin Shui Wai Sports Center will commence operation starting Thursday (Aug 25).
“If necessary, and upon liaison with relevant bureaux and departments, we will swiftly mobilize resources and prepare venues to activate other holding centers or quarantine facilities,” the SWD said.
