HKUST requires staffers to undergo rapid tests once a week from April 19
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology said on Thursday that starting from April 19, staff who need to return to campus will have to undergo rapid Covid-19 testing once a week.
Starting from April 11, HKUST will gradually return to normal operations.
Vice-President for Administration and Business Pong Ting-chuen and Director of Health, Safety and Environment office Samuel Yu Chung-toi said staff members who need to work on campus will be required to conduct weekly quick tests.
The university will distribute four sets of test kits to staffers each month and recommend taking the test in the morning.
The university also called on its staff to conduct rapid tests every day from April 8 to 10 and to continue maintaining proper social distance and hygiene practices.
Previously, in late March, the Chinese University of Hong Kong announced that it would resume normal services and operations in phases in the following weeks, with the goal of a full resumption on April 25.
The university has implemented flexible work arrangements for its staff from April 4, including flexible working or lunch hours and rotating teams to work from home.
The University of Hong Kong also announced to gradually resume normal operations. Each department has implemented rotating work from home arrangements from April 4 and will fully resume normal services from April 19.
Staffers are required to wear masks, keep their hands clean, maintain social distancing while working, and obtain a negative rapid test result within 24 hours upon entering the campus.
Hong Kong Baptist University will resume laboratory and practical courses starting from April 21, while the rest of the classes will remain online until the end of the semester.
The university will gradually resume normal working schedules from April, and the work from home arrangements for faculty and staff will end on April 19.
