HKU Dentistry rated second in QS World University Rankings by Subject
The University of Hong Kong’s Dentistry has been ranked second in the world, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, one place higher compared to last year.
The university said it marked the fifth time that the faculty has been ranked among the top two globally, which so far, no other institution in the world has achieved.
From 2016 to 2018, the Faculty of Dentistry topped all dental schools in the world.
Thomas Flemmig, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, said it is a testament to academic excellence led by a shared vision of being the global leader in oral health science, education, and professional care, and driven by a team of dedicated and talented staff and students.
"This remarkable success would not have been possible without the stimulating and supportive environment at the University of Hong Kong and the invaluable support of the members of the Prince Philip Dental Hospital."
He remarked that the faculty is the only institution in Hong Kong that provides undergraduate and postgraduate dental degrees and has educated essentially all of the dentists and dental specialists working in the city.
The faculty is also celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022. It has recently established an Institute for Advanced Dentistry as a center of excellence for the treatment of advanced and complex oral conditions.
