Yesterday, the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) celebrated its 25th anniversary with music, dance performances, and a cake-cutting ceremony.
The celebrations come a quarter of a century after the airport moved from Kai Tak to Chek Lap Kok.
The airport has been upgraded with new facilities, including a Sky Bridge and a 24/7 food court.
The third runway is expected to be operational by the end of next year, increasing capacity by 50%.
The airport is also expanding cargo handling capacity, with DHL and
Alibaba Group's Cainiao Network expanding their operations.
HKIA has fully implemented the biometric-based flight token system and has a strong reputation as the world's busiest international cargo facility.
