HKeToll to be implemented in Tsing Sha Control Area on Sun
The free-flow tolling service, HKeToll, will be implemented in the Tsing Sha Control Area from 5 am this Sunday (May 7), allowing motorists to drive through the toll plaza without stopping or queuing for payments.
The tunnel tolls will be collected through the toll tags, and all manual toll booths and Autotoll lanes will be canceled.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the HKeToll, the Transport Department said temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented in phases in the vicinity of the TSCA from 11 pm on May 6, closing both sides of the connecting roads of Eagle's Nest Tunnel, Sha Tin Heights Tunnel, and Tai Wai Tunnel from 2 am to 5 am on May 7 to facilitate the amendment of traffic signs and road markings, etc.
HKeToll will be extended to Shing Mun Tunnels and Lion Rock Tunnel in the next stage and gradually to all government-tolled tunnels within this year.
The TD also announced that as of Wednesday (May 3), more than 680,000 vehicle tags had been issued, accounting for about 85 percent of licensed vehicles in Hong Kong, of which about 70 percent of vehicle owners had opened HKeToll accounts.
