HKBU professional journalism fellowship calls for applications
Aiming to raise the standards of journalism by allowing practicing journalists to take a break to enrich their knowledge through studying at Hong Kong Baptist University, the 2nd Professional Journalism Fellowship scheme welcomes applications starting today.
The scheme was first launched in 2022 and is the first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong. It is available for full-time journalists employed by established Hong Kong-based news organizations with at least five years of journalistic experience to apply.
Selected fellows could study full-time at HKBU for one or two semesters and attend any courses at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels with the approval of course instructors. The fellows will be granted a stipend commensurate with their respective incomes.
The program also seeks to enhance local journalism education by fostering connections between the School and the media industry.
Raymond Li, Professor of Practice and Head of the Department of Journalism, hopes the scheme will further enhance the ties between journalism practitioners, students and faculty. “We are very much looking forward to seeing the next group of fellows on campus.”
The 2nd scheme application deadline is April 7. More details are available on the scheme’s website.
