HK will be Cambodia's prime partner in tapping vast business potential
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Algernon Yau, met with the Cambodian business sector to promote Hong Kong's business opportunities after attending the 6th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Ministers-Hong Kong, China Consultation in Cambodia.
Speaking in Phnom Penh, Yau stressed that Hong Kong would continue to leverage its unique strengths to enhance its status as an international trade centre, and strive to develop into a regional intellectual property trading centre and the premier telecommunications hub of Asia.
"We stand ready to work closely with our regional partners, including those in Cambodia, to capture the unprecedented business opportunities", he added.
He added that with the low and simple tax system, a market-oriented and international business environment, as well as the free trade agreement with ASEAN, Hong Kong would be Cambodia's prime partner in tapping the vast business potential.
On his last day in Cambodia, Yau also visited two Hong Kong enterprises with a wide range of businesses to understand Cambodia's development and investment opportunities better.
