The new round of the "Free Tour" program, which also encourages the people of Hong Kong to explore the city, will increase its quota to offer up to 60,000 free local tour spots, according to the board.
Starting from Friday (Dec 10), if you manage to get "machine printed" receipts – but not more than two – that add up to HK$800, they can be used to redeem one tour, which would include an itinerary covering at least half a day, a tour guide, return transport, and one meal.
Details of some 300 tours and their itineraries will not be known until January 3 next year, the day registration starts on the designated website.
The board said travel agencies will run these tour groups, and they will have to make a HK$100 deposit when signing up for the tours, with the deposit fully refunded in cash after joining the tours.
The board also said participants must at least receive one Covid jab in order to participate in the free tours.
