The first batch of Sinovac vaccines is expected to reach Hong Kong this Friday, while the BioNTech vaccines will be in the city next week, according to reports.
Secretary for Civil Service, Partick Nip Tak-kuen said the vaccination program is now entering into the final stretch.
“The authorities would set up at least one community vaccination center in each of the 18 districts, with some of the centers being established in private hospitals and clinics,” he said.
Authorities will also offer outreach jab services to ten larger-scale elderly homes.
“It is expected that the vaccination can begin one week after the
vaccines have arrived in Hong Kong,” Nip added.
It was said that Hong Kong will have over 20 vaccination centers set up, with each center giving only one kind of jab to avoid possible confusion.
Elderlies aged 60 or above will be given priority, each elderly can also bring along two caretakers to receive the jab with bookings made in advance.
