HK Lego builder’s design picked to be officially produced
A Lego builder from Hong Kong - Truman Cheng, has his Lego recreation of famous Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh’s artwork The Starry Night selected as one of the next Lego Ideas sets.
Cheng, 25, has previously submitted his Lego work to a website run by Chaordix and The Lego Group, which allows users to submit ideas for Lego products to be turned into potential sets available commercially.
His Lego recreation - Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night featured around 1,550 Lego bricks, using bits and pieces to resemble the original painting’s visual elements.
Cheng’s work has been the only work among 35 other projects worldwide chosen to eventually become available for purchase, having gained 10,000 votes worldwide in three weeks to make it to the review phase.
It was said that Lego builders having their work chosen and turned into sets available commercially will receiving 1 percent of the total net sales of the product.
