HK Express to offer female flight attendants trouser uniform option
HK Express’ female flight crew will be able to choose trousers as their uniform rather than skirts and wear sneakers instead of leather shoes.
This airline announced on Wednesday its new uniform design that lets its female staff put aside the previous purple skirt they wear to work and "dress to suit their own personality."
"We hope to provide our employees more convenience during their work and opportunities for them to express themselves," said Mandy Ng Kit-man, CEO of HK Express.
Before that, the flight crew union of the now-defunct Cathay Dragon had raised a proposal to the company arguing about having the right for flight attendants to wear trousers and received the approval in 2018.
However, the reform of uniforms was not made available as the airline ceased operations in 2020 under pressure from the pandemic.
HK Express has also announced today that it will resume 400 flights a week in March this year, reaching the level of pre-epidemic capacity in 2019.
"We are aiming to recruit more than 300 pilots and flight crew members this year," Ng said.
