Hong Kong scrapped the quarantine arrangements for Covid patients starting today.
People no longer need to submit their personal data through the online self-reporting platform for
COVID-19 patients as the isolation mandate is being lifted.
The government has also arranged for those staying in the quarantine facilities to leave early. However, only a few of some 500 patients isolated at the Penny's Bay quarantine center were seen leaving.
Some citizens were also worried about being infected and would choose to dine out less often.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu earlier said the decision was based on the fact that the inoculation rates in the city for the second and third
vaccine doses have reached 93 percent and 84 percent respectively. He added that the community already has a strong level of immunity.
