HK Baseball Association condemns protest song edit in 2010 game footage, files police report
The Hong Kong Baseball Association has filed a police report after the Chinese national anthem in the pre-game ceremony video between Team Taipei and Team Hong Kong in 2010 was replaced with the theme song of the 2019 anti-extradition bill protests.
The report of the edited video, uploaded onto YouTube on November 14, was first received by the association in the evening on Tuesday.
According to the association's statement released Thursday, the game was between Team Taipei and Team Hong Kong in the 2010 XVII IBAF Intercontinental Cup.
The original video in which the Chinese national anthem was played correctly was uploaded onto YouTube by user a7265524 on October 25, 2010, who also gave credit to Videoland Sports Channel.
On the other hand, the edited video was uploaded by user Free Bird (@leeabel), who has 126 subscribers.
“On Tuesday (Dec 13), the Association has reported the above issue to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; the Leisure and Cultural Services Department; the World Baseball Softball Confederation; the Baseball Federation of Asia; and the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association,” the statement also read.
“As instructed by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong. the association has reported the above issue to police on Tuesday, and provided further information to police on Wednesday in support of the investigation.”
“The association strongly condemned these kind of actions,” it continued.
