A middle-aged man who was hiking with his friend at Lai Chi Chong in Sai Kung on Wednesday afternoon died after he felt heart pain.
The man was hiking along with his friend at 3.46pm at Lai Chi Chong, when he suddenly felt pain in his heart and lost his consciousness. His friend immediately reported the incident to police for help.
Cops and firemen soon arrived at the scene, as did officers from the Government Flying Service. They rescued the man and rushed him to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan on helicopter. Yet he was later certified dead.
It was understood that the man had records of heart attack. Police are now investigating the case at the scene and are trying to contact the man's family members.
Earlier rescue crew were searching for an Englishman who went hiking to Yellow Dragon River on Lantau Island last Saturday and had gone missing since then.
His missing was only reported around 1am today, after which cops, firemen and the Civil Aid Service were mobilized to conduct a large-scale rescue. Helicopters were sent to the scene for the manhunt as well.
The crew around 5pm then located the body of the hiker at a valley nearby. He was rushed to Eastern Hospital but he was also certified dead.
