Henderson Land Sets a Shining Example in Volunteering
At this year’s Hong Kong Volunteer Award, Henderson Land Development Company Limited (Henderson Land) and Henderson Land Property Management Department were honored with a number of major awards, namely “Outstanding Corporate/Non-Commercial Organization – Top 10 Highest Volunteer Hours”, “Corporate & Non-Commercial Organization (Volunteer Hours)”, “Excellence Gold Award” and “Outstanding Caring Estate”.
Henderson Land’s Executive Director Mr. Suen Kwok Lam and Advisor to Chairman Mr. Johnny Yu stress that Henderson Land continues to uphold its motto and spirit to help and contribute to society, as well as to promote volunteering to all staff members to care for each other.
Mr. Suen appreciates the setting-up of the Volunteer Award as it reminds the general public of the importance of giving back to society. “It is more blessed to give than to receive. Our company culture fully supports and encourages volunteerism because we strongly believe in giving back,” says Suen Kwok Lam, Executive Director of Henderson Land. “Hong Kong will become an even better place when we all actively help each other out.”
Henderson Land Property Management Department garnered eight Outstanding Caring Estate Awards with the properties under its management, namely Grand Waterfront, La Cite Noble, Metro City Phases 1 & 2, and The Sherwood. This excellent result was attributed to the concerted effort of Well Born’s volunteer team, ‘Team of Care’, which has been set up to encourage and motivate employees to participate in volunteer services on a regular basis.
Mr. Johnny Yu adds that Henderson Land fully supports and encourages its employees to engage in volunteer services, which span from elderly visits to beach and hiking trail clean-ups to donating daily essentials to those in need, while tirelessly promoting ESG management approaches to care for the environment.
Henderson Land Group has a number of volunteer teams under different departments and subsidiaries. All volunteers have doubled their efforts during the pandemic. They helped promote the vaccination program to the elderly and children and assisted in the Government’s distribution of anti-epidemic service kits to households in Hong Kong.
Among the different teams, Henderson Land’s “Henderson Warmth Volunteer Team” has been actively supporting and taking part in a broad range of community initiatives that seek to help the underprivileged and foster environmental conservation, in an effort to enrich the local community and drive positive change in society.
As for “Team of Care” under the Property Management Department, it has gathered over 10,000 volunteers comprising staff members, tenants, contractors and business partners, with its total service time exceeding 80,000 hours. Through participating in various kinds of community outreach and charitable activities, Team of Care has set an excellent example for the industry in caring for the disadvantaged and promoting harmony in society. “We look forward to seeing more young people participate in volunteering This will help spread the joy of lending a helping hand, and the positive message of contributing to society,” Suen concludes.
