Hello Hong Kong! More gift vouchers on offer as 1.46m travelers recorded in Feb
A total of 1.46 million visitors, of which 75 percent were mainlanders, came to the city last month, marking the peak of monthly traveler headcount three years after the Covid pandemic.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced on Wednesday that the number of visitors who came to Hong Kong last month has increased by two times month-on-month and marked the first time the figure exceeded one million in a single month since the outbreak began in February 2020.
"Visitors’ number has recovered to 30 percent of the pre-pandemic level," said the Tourism Board.
Among that, mainland arrivals increased three times from 280,000 to 1.1 million people, and non-mainland visitors, mainly from Southern East Asian countries, reached 350,000 people from 220,000.
In addition, the Tourism Board announced more offers of welcoming gifts would be added to the current "Hong Kong Goodies" visitor consumption vouchers to cater to new visitors.
Offers totaling HK$20 million from the MTR, including 100,000 airport express tickets, 100,000 tourist day passes, and 100,000 coupons of RMB30 discount on High-Speed Rail tickets.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club will also offer 2,000 sets of HK$430 Tourist Packs, said the Tourism Board.
Besides, it added the number of outlets offering “Hong Kong Goodies” will also be doubled from the current 1,500 to around 3,000 across the city.
