The happiness index of people aged over 55 is 6.47 out of 10, according to a survey conducted by Wofoo Social Enterprises.
The survey was conducted between the end of 2019 and the end of 2020 and about 2000 questionnaire results were collected.
Two of the factors respondents were least satisfied with were the political and social atmosphere, with scores of 3.52. They gave a score of 4.74 for overall economic state.
On the other hand, policies regarding the well-being of the elderly were warmly received, with the two-dollar public transportation scheme receiving a score of 8.01 and the elderly healthcare voucher scheme attaining a 7.2.
The survey also found that good cross-generational relationships can increase the resilience of those aged above 55, which in turn alleviates the unease caused by the ongoing pandemic.
The enterprise suggested friends and family spend more time with and show more care to the elderly.
