Gundam designer Kunio Okawara 50th anniversary exhibition to be held in Ocean Park this April
Ocean Park is staging an exhibition to show the magnificent works of Kunio Okawara, the man who designed Gundam, from April 1 to June 4 to immerse visitors into his revolutionary works that shaped mechanical design trends in Japan.
The monumental 50th-anniversary exhibition of the legendary mechanical designers' works, from the globally-acclaimed Yatterman and The King of Braves GaoGaiGar to the iconic Gundam series and many other ground-breaking designs, is a must-see for all fans of mecha.
The indoor Kunio Okawara Mech Design Base in Ocean Park will feature a collection of mecha statues, sketches, and designs, including the 4-meter-tall Gundam Seed Strike Freedom, and the OKAWARA_SMURF figure which has never been exhibited in Hong Kong.
Apart from gigantic figures, the exhibition also features Okawara’s authentic works which are being displayed for the first time in Hong Kong, including a specially commissioned illustration G Gundam and a set of four incredible mecha illustrations.
There will be an array of souvenirs available only at the exhibition, such as the limited to 100 sets per design of tourbillon watches based on Okawara’s signature Yatter-wan and G Gundam design, a limited edition commemorative Octopus set, collectable metal card set, and more.
